Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, wrote on X on Tuesday, Mehr 3.

The remarks by officials of the Islamic Republic show that economic pressure on Tehran “is having an effect.”

He referred to Masoud Pezeshkian’s remarks about economic shortages and the need to end the war, as well as Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf’s remarks about hunger, financial flows, economic growth, and domestic production.

Bessent emphasized that during Donald Trump’s term, the U.S. Treasury Department will continue to cut “every economic artery” that keeps the Islamic Republic afloat so that “Tehran is left alone.”
