🔶 Saudi Arabia targeted by attacks by Iraqi militias aligned with Iran

Saudi Arabia said that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones that were intended to target oil facilities in “Eastern Province” and Riyadh. The country blamed the attacks on Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, said on Monday, July 27, that the unsuccessful attacks took place over the past few hours, and described them as terrorist acts launched from Iraqi territory.

Al-Maliki added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a legitimate right to defend the security of its people and its vital infrastructure, and emphasized that it reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also, in a separate statement, strongly condemned the drone attacks carried out by Iran-backed militias in Iraq.
