Officials in charge of organizing the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia said that preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup are continuing as scheduled despite the intensification of Houthi attacks on this country.
The organizing committee in Saudi Arabia said in a statement that the necessary measures are being carried out in coordination with the Asian Football Confederation.
The 2027 Asian Cup is set to be held from January 7 to February 5, 2027 (17 Dey to 16 Bahman 1405) in the Saudi cities of Jeddah, Riyadh, and Khobar.
In recent days, Saudi Arabia has been targeted by ongoing attacks following the escalation of the war with the Iran-backed Houthi group.
Several sporting events, including domestic Saudi football league matches, have been postponed.
Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, president of the Asian Football Confederation, told reporters on Wednesday that they can wait until the end of November to make a final decision. He said that if necessary, we can postpone the competitions by one year and hold them in 2028.
