Sanctions on SAIPA and Iran Khodro; Trump says the reason the war continued was to reach new achievements

🔸 The president of the United States, in an interview he gave Monday, October 6, to the magazine “Time,” said that the effort to achieve “more achievements” was the only reason for the war with Iran lasting longer.

🔸 In response to a question indicating that the war, which was supposed to last 6 to 8 weeks, has reached its seventh month, Donald Trump said: “Because I decided to have more achievements. [At that point] I finished their job. I could have stopped the war then and there. But I wanted to get more.”

🔸 Referencing the attack on Iran’s nuclear sites at Natanz and Fordo again, Mr. Trump said: “If you look at our achievements, when we bombed their nuclear sites with B-2s, you can see that at that same point in time we reached our goals. Their enriched uranium—which I call nuclear dust—was buried under thousands of tons of rock and rubble. I could have stopped the war at that time; but I didn’t think it was the right thing to do, because then they would have restarted the work again. Maybe somewhere else. That is why I continued. And now their situation is really messed up.”

🔸 The U.S. president once again emphasized that: “Their economy has been destroyed. Their inflation has reached 300 percent or something around that. Their navy and air force have been destroyed. They have lost everything and are desperately looking for a deal. But I want a ‘real’ deal.”

🔸 Donald Trump continued: “When I said we would be involved in the war for a short time, I was sticking to my word. But then I decided to take more steps; because I didn’t want, sometime later, for them to appear again in a different way.”

🔸 In response to a question about why he rejected Iran’s new proposal, which was raised during the visit of an Iranian delegation in New York, the U.S. president said: “Because things that were not acceptable to me a year ago are still unacceptable.”
