🔸The U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions against Iran on Thursday, the ninth of Mehr.
🔸The new sanctions, including the rail network and two major Iranian automakers, Saipa and Iran Khodro, have targeted them.
🔸The U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement: “Because the rail network and the auto industry constitute part of the most important remaining sources of revenue for the regime and its communications and logistical capabilities, today’s sanctions precisely target the vital arteries that [the government] of Iran relies on to sustain the economy and get around sanctions.”
🔸In addition to Saipa and Iran Khodro, five other auto companies have also been included in the new sanctions under the “economic isolation of Iran” program.
🔸“Niru Motor,” the largest motorcycle manufacturing company in Iran, as well as the company “Golden Motorcycle” based in Indonesia, and several parts-supplier companies based in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Hong Kong are among the sanctioned companies.
🔸In the rail sector, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Company, the Iran Passenger Railways Company, “Raja,” and the Iran Cargo Railways Company, known as the “Rail Transport” company, were also sanctioned.
