Ruhollah Ismaili, Deputy of the Natural Environment at the General Department of Environmental Protection, announced the registration of two new cases of Caspian seal deaths on the shores of this province and said that, taking into account the cases observed on the shores of Miankaleh and Mahmudabad, the total recorded deaths of this species since the beginning of the year has reached 25 individuals.

He added that environmental experts, after conducting field investigations, found that due to the considerable time that had passed since the death of these two seals, the carcasses were in an advanced state of decomposition, and it was not possible to perform necropsy or conduct scientific sampling from them.

According to Ismaili, the carcasses were buried in a sanitary manner in accordance with health protocols and under the supervision of experts to prevent any possible environmental contamination.
