By referring to the continued killing of protesters in Iran, Donald Trump called the Islamic Republic an «evil» regime. Nowid Mohbi, a political analyst, said these remarks are part of a campaign to put pressure on Tehran and could be aimed at creating political conditions for a possible military action.
Mohbi added that, in his view, the United States and Israel are preparing for another round of clashes with the Islamic Republic, but due to election-related considerations, the likelihood of starting a war before the two countries’ elections is low. He predicted that if current conditions continue, the likelihood of a military confrontation will increase in the weeks following the elections.
