Republicans gathered in Dallas to give fresh momentum to their campaign for the midterm elections; they hoped that a historic meeting overshadowed by the presence of Donald Trump could energize their supporters ahead of the November elections.

Many of the participants left Dallas with the same concerns they had when they arrived—concerns about the Republicans’ outlook in the 2026 elections and what path the party would take after the Trump era.

JD Vance, the vice president, whom many consider one of the main contenders to succeed Trump, in his speech painted a picture of the possible future of the party for his fellow party members.

Vance, in his remarks to those in attendance, told them: “We’ve got to finish the job in November.”

He then added: “After that, we’ll worry about what happens and what the next step is.”
