🔶 Pope Leo begins 11-day trip to South America

According to Pope Leo XIV’s news media, he has begun his 11-day trip to Latin American countries. His first destination is Uruguay, where on the evening of Friday, November 6 (15 Aban), he will be welcomed in Montevideo by the country’s president.

Other destinations of the Pope’s trip to South America are Argentina and Peru. Leo spent more than 20 years as a religious missionary for the Augustinian order and later as a bishop in Peru. Born in the United States, he has also obtained Peruvian citizenship since then.

According to the Vatican, the Pope’s itinerary for South America will not change despite his recent surgery due to lung cancer. In addition to multiple meetings with political, religious, and civil-society representatives, as well as attending religious ceremonies, the Pope will also make a tourist trip to an altitude of about 3,700 meters in the Andes Mountains of Peru.

According to the plans made, the 11-day trip by the leader of the world’s Catholics will end on November 17 (26 Aban).
