🔻One of the five men arrested near the RAF Fairford base, called the police himself
BBC has found that one of the five men who were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, 27 September (5 Mehr) near the Royal Air Force base at Fairford in the UK, called the UK emergency contact number, 999.
The suspect called the police at 00:45 GMT, almost an hour before a farmer also called 999 after seeing masked men.
The five were arrested on suspicion of crimes related to explosives and later terrorism, following reports of a serious security incident after three vans were seen around the RAF Fairford base in Gloucestershire, where the U.S. Army operates.
On Monday, they were released on bail under what the police described as an investigation decision “based on experience and strategy.”
The police said that during the inspection of the vans, some petrol was found, but no explosive device was discovered
