The number of vessels that transited the Bab al-Mandab strait on Monday reached 28, the highest figure in the past four days. Based on data from the company Kpler, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has still remained low.
This figure is still far from the peak of the current month. On July 14, 46 vessels passed through Bab al-Mandab.
Of the 12 vessels that entered the Red Sea on Monday, four were oil tankers, including one mega tanker, two Suezmax tankers, and one Aframax tanker. Of the 16 vessels that left the Red Sea, 10 were also oil tankers.
The mega tanker “New Pearl,” flying the Hong Kong flag and carrying two million barrels of Saudi Arabia’s crude oil, left the Red Sea for the port of Zhoushan in eastern China. This is the fourth Chinese mega tanker that has been rerouted away from this route since the declaration of a maritime blockade by the Houthis.
