Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said that no specific timetable has been set to end the war with Iran and that he believes continuing economic pressure on the Islamic Republic is in the United States’ favor.

Waltz said in an interview with CNN on Sunday: “I think with the president’s strategy and the economic anger operation, the time is in favor of Trump and the United States.”

By referring to the Iranian government’s naval blockade by the United States, he said the move is increasing pressure on the economy of the Islamic Republic.

CNN asked Waltz about a report by The Wall Street Journal, which said that, based on it, senior White House advisers have also discussed privately with Trump the possibility of the war continuing until the end of his presidential term in January 2029.

In response, Waltz said: “I don’t see any need for me to set a timeline for that.”

The remarks come as the war with the Iranian government is approaching its seventh month. Trump recently said the war could end soon.
