Hussein Simai-Saraf, the Minister of Science, in a video message invited veiled girls of the Republic of Azerbaijan to go to universities in Iran to continue their studies.
This comes while there are no uniform dress rules in schools in the Republic of Azerbaijan and no nationwide restriction on wearing the hijab in universities in this country. Therefore, veiled students are not legally generally required to put aside the hijab or leave the country to continue their studies.
Although reports have been published about preventing the admission of veiled students to some schools and restrictions on veiled teachers, school dress regulations do not mean a general ban on the hijab in universities.
