Majidreza Khaki, Secretary of the Iranian Rice Importers Association, said that since the beginning of the year, about 700 tons of rice under the title of “American rice” have been imported into Iran through Iraq. According to him, these shipments were brought in by real persons without registering an order, but their entry is not considered smuggling.

Khaki rejected any official purchase of rice from the United States and said that no memorandum of understanding or program for the direct and organized import of rice from the United States into this association has been communicated.

According to him, the recent shipments have been brought into Iran in a scattered manner, from Iraq and by real persons.
