Lithuania’s parliament has voted to lift the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory, with a second vote needed in three months for the decision to take effect.

According to the parliament’s resolution, Article 137, which prohibits the deployment of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear ones, on Lithuanian territory, will be removed from the constitution. The same article also bans foreign military bases.
