🔺Lebanon’s President has called for indictments in the Beirut port explosion case from 2020

▪The president of Lebanon asked the country’s judiciary to issue the necessary indictment regarding the Beirut port explosion in 2020.

▪As a result of the massive explosion at the Beirut port on August 4, 2020, more than 220 people were killed, more than 6,500 were injured, and large parts of the capital were destroyed.

▪Lebanese officials have said the explosion occurred due to a fire in a warehouse where several tons of ammonium nitrate were stored.

▪This case, which is still in the hands of the public prosecutor, has been mired in political and legal disputes since 2023 and after Hezbollah, the group backed by the Islamic Republic, launched a campaign to remove Tarek Bitar, the investigating judge of the case.
