Another power grid collapse plunges Cuba into nationwide blackout

🔸The state company responsible for Cuba’s power grid announced that the grid collapsed on Sunday evening, 11 Mordad, plunging the island into darkness again.

🔸The disruption occurred again in a country of about 10 million people, at a time when power outages in Cuba have been steadily increasing for a long time.

🔸News agencies wrote that, as lights went out suddenly across Havana, residents who had been sitting outdoors to escape the summer heat all expressed their dissatisfaction loudly at the continuation of this situation.

🔸This is the latest incident in a series of full grid failures in the country. Only 24 hours earlier, the entire western part of Cuba had suffered a blackout.

🔸Repeated power outages in Cuba have made normal life almost impossible, because with each blackout, the water supply gradually also stops, and ceiling fans stop working.

🔸Residents in the areas most affected expressed their dissatisfaction by setting fire to piles of trash or banging pots and frying pans.

🔸Cuba’s Ministry of Energy announced that the process of implementing the necessary protocols to restart the power grid has begun.

🔸Pressure on the country’s power grid has increased while Cuba is facing serious problems in supplying fuel imports.
