The U.S. ambassador in Beirut warned that any haste in the agreement between Israel and Lebanon could put civilians’ lives at risk.

Michel Eissa, by posting a message on the X social network, described the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Rome as encouraging, but noted that many technical tasks still remain to ensure the safety of civilians.

He noted that there is a significant difference between drafting an agreement on paper and “its responsible implementation in practice,” and that a rushed move could put civilians’ lives at risk.

The U.S. ambassador in Beirut said that it is better to do things the right way from the beginning.

In Mr. Eissa’s view, the most important point is that both sides reach an agreement, before continuing along the path, on a clear and executable process.
