🔶 Leader of Syria’s Kurds announced the end of the dissolution of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” and integration into the army

The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Kurds, announced on Tuesday the official dissolution of this group, which during the Syrian civil war controlled a de facto autonomous region in the northeastern part of the country. This region is known as Rojava.

Mazloum Abdi said in a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Damascus that the SDF has completed its integration into the Syrian army and will no longer operate as an independent force.

After the fall of the Assad regime in December 2005 and the new government’s efforts to extend its authority over the entire country, the Kurdish-led force lost much of the areas under its control in northeastern Syria during the defense and advance of state forces in January, and then signed an agreement to integrate into the body of the Syrian army.
