Kayhan newspaper, which is published under the supervision of the Representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, wrote in a note, while criticizing the Islamabad understandings: “The output of this scrap of paper in the name of a memorandum of understanding was the provision of US interests, buying time for Israel, and nothing but damage for us.”

Kayhan wrote that after the United States passed part of the energy through the Strait of Hormuz, it violated its commitments and, by attacking the south, effectively rendered the memorandum invalid.

The newspaper, while criticizing the remarks by Qalibaf and Pezeshkian about reading the memorandum as “honorable,” wrote that whether the Strait of Hormuz is open or closed has no relation to this agreement. An agreement that the United States has violated can no longer be the basis for action by the Islamic Republic, and insisting on preserving it sends a “message of weakness” to the enemy.

Kayhan also, by referring to US attacks on the south of Iran and Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, called for putting an end to an approach based on understandings with Washington.
