🔶 Israeli official: Iran is considering options to attack the United States and Israel
The Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post,” citing a senior Israeli defense official, wrote that, at the same time as negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program between Iran and the United States have stalled and as Washington’s pressure has increased, Tehran is considering its own options for responding to the current situation.
According to this Israeli official, Iran is seeking tools to get out of the current predicament and is likely also considering whether it can influence the U.S. election. He added that, in recent weeks, there have been multiple warnings about the possibility of an attack on Israel from various routes, and that Hezbollah would also be part of Tehran’s calculations in the event of confrontation between Iran and Israel.
The Israeli official called economic pressure and U.S. sanctions effective and said that, in recent days, the value of the rial has fallen to its lowest level and the cost of living in Iran has increased.
In its report, the Jerusalem Post wrote that every day about 30 to 40 oil tankers pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which is close to the level seen before the war, indicating a decline in Iran’s influence over traffic through this strategic waterway.
