🔶New U.S. sanctions against Iran’s automotive industries, railways, and metal industries; a sanction imposed on a Pakistani businessman

The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Thursday, October 1 (Mehr 9), a new round of sanctions against Iran, this time targeting important sectors of the country’s economy and transportation, including automotive manufacturing, railways, heavy machinery, steel, and manufacturing industries.

In the automotive sector, Iran Khodro and Saipa, Iran’s two major automakers, have been placed on the sanctions list. According to the U.S. Treasury Department, these two companies control more than 90% of the domestic car market in Iran.

Pars Khodro, Zamyad, Industrial and Manufacturing Company, and other companies are also included in the latest U.S. sanctions.

In total, the United States has sanctioned seven automotive companies in this round. نیرو موتور (Niroo Motor), the largest producer of motorcycles in Iran, is also among the companies that have been sanctioned.

Several foreign companies active in supplying parts and cooperating with Iran’s automotive industry—including Golden Motorcycle Company in Indonesia and some parts-manufacturing companies in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Hong Kong—have also been targeted by the sanctions.
