🔻Israel’s Channel 12 initially reported that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, on Sunday, September 27, secretly traveled to Abu Dhabi on a private jet and met with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the head of the UAE government.
Other Israeli media outlets have also reported the matter. Among them, the Jerusalem Post, quoting its sources, wrote that the main topic of talks with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was Iran. According to the newspaper, Mr. Netanyahu “put a lot of pressure” on the Emiratis to arrange a meeting ahead of Israel’s elections.
In a report that has recently become highly newsmaking in Israel, Haaretz wrote that Mohammed bin Zayed had warned Benjamin Netanyahu about 10 days before the attacks of October 7, 2023, that Hamas’s leader was preparing for a large-scale attack. Mr. Netanyahu, by rejecting the report, has threatened to sue Haaretz.
Based on Channel 12’s report, published late last night, Mr. Netanyahu was in Abu Dhabi for several hours, and his meeting with Mohammed bin Zayed lasted about 45 minutes.
The office of the Israeli prime minister has made no comment.
