🔸The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps early on Wednesday, 13 Aban, in a statement, claimed that four oil tankers were hit by sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and that they were destroyed and caught fire.
🔸In the statement, the IRGC said that these tankers—described as “offenders”—intended to pass through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC also says that two other ships were stopped.
🔸In recent weeks, Iranian media, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Islamic Republic’s Army, have reported that passing ships in the Strait of Hormuz collided with mines placed in this vital waterway.
🔸The U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, has repeatedly denied the claims by Iranian military institutions about ships striking sea mines while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, calling these reports inaccurate.
🔸Both Iran and the United States claim control of the Strait of Hormuz—a strategic waterway where, since the start of the war on 9 Esfand of last year, free navigation has faced serious disruption.
