🔸Majed Al Ansari, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, on Tuesday, 12 Aban, while referring to proposals that mediators, including Doha, have presented, said that the government of his country is hopeful that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will reach a temporary agreement.
🔸This comes while, a few hours earlier, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that Iran and the United States still have “a long way” to go to reach an agreement to end the war.
🔸Alongside the two countries’ indirect negotiations, the United States carried out attacks on Qeshm Island alongside the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night, which U.S. officials later described as “defensive.”
🔸In the past week, Qatar has increased its efforts to mediate between Tehran and Washington and has not halted these efforts even when it was targeted by the Guards Corps.
At present, according to Majed Al Ansari, both sides are “committed to continuing the negotiation process, and we [Qatar] facilitate the exchange of proposals between these two.”
