🔸Iran’s acting oil minister, in a meeting with members of the parliament’s energy commission, confirmed a 25 percent reduction in gas production capacity as a result of attacks by the United States and Israel.
🔸According to Hamid Bourd, Iran has been grappling with an energy imbalance for years, and the loss of a quarter of production capacity during the war has further exacerbated the problem.
🔸The acting oil minister, emphasizing that the equipment and primary materials needed to rebuild facilities damaged in the war have been procured, said that the reconstruction operations are being carried out around the clock.
🔸At the same time, Hamid Bourd stressed that to get through the current winter, a 20 percent “gas consumption saving” is needed, both in the domestic and industrial sectors—an issue that, based on the timeframe, indicates the return of Iran’s gas production capacity will not be very soon.
🔸This comes as Ali Akbar Alvandiyan, secretary of the employers’ association in the cement industry, announced on Tuesday that, starting from the beginning of Aban, gas has been completely cut off to all cement plants.
🔸He added that cement plants are now using fuel oil (mazut), and gas outages at the plants will likely continue until the end of the year.
