🔸Iranian media have published an order attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, in which Mohsen Rezaei is appointed as his representative on the Supreme National Security Council.
🔸In the order, which was published on Sunday, 18 Mordad, thanks are made for the “round-the-clock efforts” of Mohammad-Baqer Zolqader, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, which can be taken to mean his removal from this position and Rezaei’s replacement.
🔸The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council is appointed by a decree from the president, who also serves as the chair of the Supreme National Security Council.
🔸In recent days, reports about Zolqader stepping down and Rezaei replacing him were published in Iranian media.
🔸Masoud Pezeshkian, president of Iran, on Saturday, on the sidelines of a meeting with journalists, implicitly confirmed Zolqader’s resignation and said: “Some differences have been raised that we are trying to resolve.”
