Iranian government news agency IRNA has published research results that focus on the specifics of how the internet plays a role in the lives of Iranians.

The study, according to an IRNA report last May, and conducted by the Iran Student Opinion Polling Center (ISPA), shows that «89.3 percent of Iran’s population over the age of 15 use the internet».

Among the participants in this study, whose sample size is reported as 4,060 people, 55.4 percent said that their livelihoods depend on the internet in one of the following three categories:

- «Much and very much — 20.3 percent» - «Moderate — 9.3 percent» - «Low — 25.8 percent»

In the view of the researchers, the results of this study indicate the reality that the internet has become a «vital and public infrastructure» for Iranian society.
