🔶 Iran’s Army Reports Tanker Hit a Sea Mine in the Strait of Hormuz

The Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on Tuesday (5 Aban) that a tanker in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz was damaged and caught fire as a result of colliding with sea mines.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, IRNA, the military claimed that the tanker, by switching off its tracking equipment, intended to pass through an area that Tehran has declared off-limits without coordinating with Iran’s armed forces.

The Navy’s public relations office said in a statement: «A few hours ago, a violator tanker, which by turning off its tracking systems was trying to cross the restricted and unsafe area in the east of the Strait of Hormuz, collided with sea mines and sustained damage and a fire.»

The Islamic Republic’s Army further emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and unsafe for ships that intend to transit without coordination with Iran’s armed forces. The statement said that commercial vessels must carry out the necessary arrangements with the armed forces of the Islamic Republic in order to pass through this waterway safely.
