🔻Inter and Milan clubs on Thursday night unveiled their new 71,500-seat stadium project named “Generali Stadium.” According to ISPN, Inter and Milan have signed a 20-year naming-rights contract with Italian insurance company Generali for their new stadium worth €650 million.
🔹“Generali Stadium” is expected to open in 2031. In a statement, the two clubs said this deal is “one of the biggest stadium naming-rights contracts in sports worldwide.”
🔹The agreement was announced at a ceremony during which images of the new stadium’s design were also unveiled. The project is moving forward under the direction of the clubs’ owners; RedBird Capital Partners, owner of Milan, and Oaktree, owner of Inter.
🔹The stadium design is the result of collaboration between Norman Foster and David Manica; the two architects previously worked together on the design of Wembley Stadium in London.
🔹The project will now enter the design and planning phase. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, and, if the necessary permits are obtained, the first match would be held in the 2031-2032 season.
