🔻Hamid Resaei, a conservative lawmaker in parliament, was sentenced to 10 months in prison in a complaint filed by Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf.
Mr. Resaei said that he will introduce himself in order to serve the sentence.
The court, citing Article 698 of the Islamic Penal Code, sentenced Hamid Resaei to “restoration of reputation and removal of the effect of a false claim through publishing a denial in the first page of the 9 Dey publication,” as well as 10 months of discretionary imprisonment.
It has been reported that, since the offense occurred before the parliamentary term, Hamid Resaei is not covered by parliamentary immunity, and the court summoned him to carry out the sentences.
Today, in a mid-session address during the parliamentary session, he said about this ruling: “Due to the complaint of Mr. Rouhani and Mr. Pezeshkian and Mr. Qalibaf and the previous secretariat of the Supreme Court’s branch of Tehran, a judicial file has been formed for some members of parliament, and some of them have reached a verdict. One of them is me, and I received a sentence of 10 months imprisonment.”
Mr. Resaei said that his case goes back to a complaint by Mr. Qalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, from the weekly “9 Dey.”
