🔻Right-wing politicians in Latin America have benefited from a wave of electoral successes that has reshaped the balance of power in the region.

Latin America now has 12 heads of state who sit to the right of the center of the political spectrum.

This is different from conditions at the beginning of 2023, when 11 Latin American countries were governed by various types of left-leaning currents.

It is true that Brazil and Mexico, the two major democracies in the region by number of voters, still have left-leaning governments. But Brazil will hold an election in October that is expected to turn into a direct contest between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the current president, and Flávio Bolsonaro, a right-wing senator.
