🔻Sisi: Egypt’s constitution will not change and my presidential term ends in 2030
Abdel Fattah Sisi, President of Egypt, says his presidential term will end in 2030.
Speaking to newly graduated cadets at the country’s military academy, Sisi said that this issue was “completely settled,” and that the two-term presidential limit in the constitution would not be changed.
He also said that he will not step down as long as Egypt’s government is not “overwhelmed by people who are capable of taking responsibility.”
Sisi took power in 2013, after protests against Mohamed Morsi, the then-president of Egypt, and a year later, after winning the elections, became president of Egypt.
In 2019, the Egyptian government increased the length of presidential terms in a referendum, but kept the two-term limit.
