🔻Five Palestinians killed in Gaza after Israeli attack on a residential building
In Gaza, health officials and rescue and relief forces said that following an Israeli airstrike early Saturday morning, at least five Palestinians were killed in a residential building in the city.
The Israel Defense Forces have not yet commented on the matter.
Last year, a U.S.-mediated agreement was reached to establish a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, but negotiators have still not reached an agreement on the conditions for Hamas’s disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its attacks on Gaza and says Hamas has been rearming and carrying out attacks in violation of the ceasefire. Hamas, meanwhile, has rejected efforts to carry out attacks or rebuild its weapons stockpiles, and accuses Israel of undermining the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Gaza health officials said that since the ceasefire was established last October, at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israeli attacks. Israel also says that during the same period, four of its soldiers were killed by militants in Gaza.
