🔸Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned, in a telephone call on Thursday with Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, about tensions escalating in the Middle East.

🔸This is Sisi’s first response following a drone attack on Thursday that led to fires on at least two energy-carrying ships. The owner of one of these ships has been reported to be American.

🔸Donald Trump, the President of the United States, confirmed on Wednesday night that the drone collision involved a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker at the Egyptian port of Damietta.

🔸According to the spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, in his conversation with Sánchez, Sisi emphasized the “need for cooperation between Egypt and Spain and Europe and the international community to resolve the tension.”

🔸This is the first time that the scope of attacks has reached Egyptian territory, first in the Persian Gulf and then the Red Sea. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
