🔸 Reports indicate that, alongside Egypt’s stated readiness to “defend Saudi Arabia” in the fight against the Shia Houthi rebels of Yemen, the UAE has also reached an agreement with Riyadh on returning to war on Yemeni soil.

🔸 Following President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s expression of readiness to fight alongside Riyadh, Egypt’s parliament on Saturday, 25 Mehr, announced that on Sunday it would hold an emergency and extraordinary session at Sisi’s request.

🔸 Speaking at a military ceremony on Saturday, Mr. Sisi said: “It is meaningless for us to allow Saudi Arabia and its security and stability to be harmed.”

🔸 The Egyptian president added that Egypt is not seeking to attack anyone, but is prepared to defend itself.

🔸 Saudi Arabia, which is the world’s largest crude oil exporter and Egypt’s neighbor, has especially in recent days been the target of ongoing attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels; including an attack on Riyadh’s international airport, which was the deadliest attack of this kind in several years.
