Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Sunday, the 5th of Mehr, published an image of a map of the Strait of Hormuz on his account on the social media platform X, in which the waterway is labeled “TRUMP STRAIT,” meaning “Trump Strait.”
Trump did not include any explanation with this image, but he has previously posted similar images on his page. In the latest image, on the map the area of the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman is marked with a circle, and the words “Trump Strait” are placed on it in capital letters.
The publication of this image came at a time when the Strait of Hormuz has become one of the main axes of tension between the Islamic Republic and the United States. Trump had previously rejected Tehran’s proposal for an agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Hossein Amirabdollahian, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, said on Sunday that Tehran has not yet received an official response from the United States to its proposal through intermediaries. Trump also said he expects more talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic to take place during the current week, and added that Tehran wants a deal, but that the current proposal is not acceptable to him.
