Donald Trump said the United States has taken full control of the Strait of Hormuz and the Islamic Republic has effectively been destroyed. Trump, while emphasizing economic pressures on Tehran, said that inflation in Iran has risen to more than 300 percent.

Axios also reported that the efforts of mediators, especially Qatar, to bring Tehran and Washington closer in their positions have not so far made any significant progress, and the risk of the resumption of military conflict still remains.
