🔶 Deputy Speaker of the Parliament: We Will Never Reach an Understanding with the United States

Hamidreza Hajibabayi, deputy speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in his pre-agenda remarks at a parliamentary webinar session on Monday, 5 Mordad, said, with emphasis that “Iran will never reach an understanding with the United States,” that “we should not allow Washington to wage war whenever it wants and to declare a ceasefire whenever it wants.”

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States after 39 days of war, due to disagreements over the content of the memorandum and the manner of passage through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran closed the strait again, which led to renewed U.S. attacks. These attacks were halted again last Friday after being stopped for two weeks, and a new round of negotiations has been underway with the help of mediators such as Qatar and Pakistan. The U.S. president has said that if diplomacy fails, broad attacks against Iran will begin.

The deputy speaker of the parliament went on to say, referring to Hezbollah Lebanon’s recent pledge to Mojtaba Khamenei, the new leader of the Islamic Republic, that “preserving Lebanon’s territorial integrity and the complete removal of invasions” is the first condition for any understanding.
