🔸In a television interview, a deputy of the Ministry of Health criticized the unfavorable situation of medical students’ education after the implementation of the “capacity increase law.”
🔸Tahereh Chengiz, in part of her remarks, announced the implementation of the pair-and-odd seating plan in clinical classes in some medical universities.
🔸She described the state of medical faculties, in terms of the large number of students, as resembling human-smuggling vehicles.
🔸The “law to increase the capacity of medical students,” based on a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, has been implemented for four years since 1401 (2022/2023) with the aim of compensating for the shortage of doctors.
🔸According to this resolution, the annual admissions capacity was increased by 20% and reached about 16,000 people per year.
🔸The Ministry of Health has repeatedly called for reducing this capacity, warning about a decline in the quality of education due to lack of infrastructure, but the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution has not yet agreed to this reduction.
