🔻Democrats’ reaction to the congressional elections: openness and relief are on the way A night full of victory was delivered for the Democrats. Winning both chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate, means that Democrats will now have control of Congress for the remaining two years of President Trump’s term. Hakeem Jeffries, the current minority leader in the House of Representatives, described the Democrats’ victory in this chamber as a “moment colored in the colors of the American flag (red, white and blue)” and said: “Because tonight, America won.” Chuck Schumer, the current minority leader in the Senate, also said that we have witnessed “a generational renewal on the political map of the Senate.” Senate Democrats wrote in a post on the social media platform X that the party in this midterm election “focused on the demands of the American people” and is ready to “deliver on its promises, whether with Trump or without him.” They added: “Openness and relief are on the way.” Meanwhile, Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic National Committee, says it is clear that American voters “have placed their trust in Democrats and in programs that support the working class.” He adds: “Over the next two years, Democrats will step in on arenas where Republicans have failed and they will work every day to reduce costs. Next step: the White House.”
