CBS News, citing informed sources, reported that senior U.S. officials discussed a plan to cut power across Tehran on Friday, but no decision on the matter had been made by later that same afternoon.

According to sources familiar with a meeting of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, at Camp David, a military attack plan was also raised at the meeting, and some White House aides who focus on political issues strongly opposed it.

Two sources told CBS News that energy infrastructure, including power plants and refineries, would likely be included in the list of targets for attacks.

A former U.S. military official said the purpose of attacking these infrastructure facilities was to weaken the ability of the Islamic Republic’s Army to deliver services and manage the country effectively.

A senior Israeli official also said that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, in his meeting with Trump earlier this week presented three options to continue the war, including focused attacks on land supply routes.

A U.S. official also said that in this conflict the United States previously targeted bridges with both military and civilian applications.
