Al Hadath network, citing an adviser to Iraq’s prime minister, reported that Tehran has deliberately taken action to damage Iraq’s economy, traffic in narcotics, and violate the sovereignty of this country.

Abdulamir Tuaiban, an adviser to the Iraqi government, said in an interview with the Iraqi media outlet “964” on Wednesday, 29 Mehr, that the entry of drugs and counterfeit banknotes from Iran into Iraq—especially the southern provinces of the country—has harmed Iraq’s economy and security.

He added that the Al Shib border crossing with Iran has been closed to prevent the entry of drugs and counterfeit money, and described these actions as “more dangerous than missiles.”

Tuaiban also denied the possibility that the crossing would be closed due to pressure from the United States, and said the Iraqi government made this decision to deal with violations at the border.
