Axios reported on Monday, 11 Aban that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, is considering three options regarding Iran. JD Vance, the vice president, and Steve Witkoff, a White House envoy, want to move toward an agreement and believe that restarting the war may not improve conditions. According to sources, most countries in the Persian Gulf region also support this option.
In contrast, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and Pete Hegseth, the U.S. defense minister, want to resume hostilities and believe it cannot be trusted that the Islamic Republic will reach an agreement and adhere to it.
Axios wrote that Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, John Ratcliffe, the CIA director, and Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, recommend continuing the “not war, not agreement” situation and economic pressure. An informed source said Ratcliffe told Trump that continuing economic pressure could push the Islamic Republic to make further concessions or create internal instability. The CIA declined to comment.
