On Saturday, the Australian government extended sanctions against Abdolreza Shahelai, the senior commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Yemen, two senior IRGC commanders, and a person linked to IRGC attacks. Australia’s sanctions also targeted eight individuals and one entity associated with Hamas. Shahelai has directed and financed attacks by Iran’s proxy groups and managed Tehran’s relationships with Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Hamed Abdollahi, commander of Unit 400 of the Quds Force of the IRGC, Ali Gholam Shokouri, a member of the Quds Force, and Mansour Erbabseir, an Iranian-American citizen, are other individuals whose sanctions Australia extended. Also, eight members and agents of Hamas have again been placed on the sanctions list due to their roles in the group’s covert investment network, which operates in several Middle Eastern and African countries. These individuals include the secretary of Hamas’s investment fund, senior managers of this fund, and current and former members of Hamas’s political bureau, at least one of whom has close ties to the Iranian government.
