At Republican watch parties, some blame midterm failure on Trump’s unkept promises — including Ukraine

“It is a funeral,” a conservative voter from South Carolina said, gesturing toward the crowd inside the Butterworth, a restaurant in the heart of Washington that has long been favored by members and supporters of the Republican Party.

As Republicans lost control of both the House and Senate on election night, attendees at a Washington watch party voiced frustration over failed promises, domestic disconnects, and the war in Ukraine.
