Reuters has named five areas of US foreign policy that could change following the midterm elections. A Democratic Congress could:

▪cut defense spending or block nominations to force Donald Trump to obtain permission from the Congress to continue the war with Iran

▪boost support for Ukraine as Democrats would be able to initiate a vote on a new aid package

▪end or limit military aid to Israel

▪increase scrutiny of policy in Latin America, including US actions in Venezuela and sanctions against Cuba
