The Assembly of Experts for Leadership, in a statement, called for action against what it described as “the normalization of immodesty without headscarves,” and emphasized “firm issuance and implementation of the law” in this regard. The Assembly also called on the armed forces to give a “regrettable and surprising” response to threats and incursions against the Islamic Republic.

According to news agencies in Iran, in an independent section of its statement about hijab, the Assembly described observing it as a “religious duty” and a “legal responsibility,” and asked cultural and executive officials to provide a comprehensive and continuous plan to confront what this body alleges are currents seeking “the normalization of immodesty and the weakening of the family.”

The statement emphasizes that “hijab should not be turned into a temporary issue,” and that addressing it should be pursued alongside religious upbringing, public culture, and law enforcement. The Experts, while demanding the firm implementation of the law, also cited “wisdom, rationality, persuasion,” and cultural activities as ways of dealing with this issue.
