🔸As protests by high school students in France continue, the issue of “acts of violence,” both by the police and by the demonstrators, has become the main focus of these protests and has even overshadowed the demands of the protesters.

🔸Reflecting these acts of violence in the political arena shows the severe divisions within French society, and while the government defends the performance of the police during these protests, the two wings of the opposition—left-wing and right-wing—each have completely contradictory interpretations of the violent events.

🔸According to government figures so far, 215 students and more than 700 police officers have been injured in these protests.

🔸Also in total, more than five thousand protesters were transferred to police stations for temporary detention.

🔸 F abien Jeb ar, director of research at the National Center for Scientific Research in France, believes that the police response to the protests by high school students is excessive and disproportionate. He told a French publication that this situation is, in part, the result of the militarization of the police over the past twenty years and the equipping of officers with tools to suppress urban violence.
