🔸Henri Kagan and Konso Suyai, two French and Japanese scientists, have been selected jointly for research on mirror images of molecules as the winners of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

🔸The Nobel Academy announced this on Wednesday, 15 Mehr.

🔸The research conducted by these two scientists has played a decisive role in the development of drugs.

🔸The jury announced that the two researchers were recognized as deserving of this prize “for the discovery of non-linear effects and self-catalysis in the synthesis of asymmetric organic compounds.”

🔸Heiner Linke, chair of the Nobel Prize Committee for Chemistry, said when announcing the names of these two scientists as the winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry: “This year’s prize is about fundamental chemistry. Many molecules exist in two different forms; like my hands. They are mirror images of each other; they look similar, but they are not identical. I cannot perfectly align my two hands on top of each other. Such molecules are called chiral.”

🔸The two scientists will split 12 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to about $1.2 million.

🔸The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is always the third prize announced after the medical and physics prizes during Nobel Week.
